BACTERIA IS YUMMY – An Introduction to Fermentation on Sat. May 3rd
Explore the worlds of bacteria and yeast with local fermentor and homebrewer Mike Stivers. Learn to create your own natural probiotics in the form of delicious foods including sauerkraut, fermented vegetables, yogurt and kombucha. We’ll discuss the history and health benefits of fermented foods and students will make and take home their own jar of sauerkraut and a vegetable medley. You’ll also receive a kombucha SCOBY and starter culture. We will sample fermented veggies, sauerkraut, yogurt, flavored kombuchas and sourdough bread.
When: Sat, May 3rd from 10am-12:00pm
Includes class instruction, 2 mason jars to fill with sauerkraut and vegetables and a Kombucha SCOBY and starter culture. Additional jars/veggies available for $3 ea for additional family members.

Kids are welcome – stuffing sauerkraut is fun! My 3 children help make everything. However, the instruction and discussion during class can get a little boring for them so be prepared for attentions to wander.
